New Orleans

June in New Orleans is hot. The sweltering, sultry and torrid kind of hot. Be sure to visit Cafe Du Monde.

Theodore Wirth Park

It's October 7st, the end of the first week of the first full month of Fall, and warm enough to still feel like summer (the outdoor thermometer currently reads 79). These were taken last weekend, looking for whatever Fall colors might be appearing this early in Minneapolis.

The San Antonio River Walk

La Villita outdoor amphitheatre

The last two are stitched together from multiple photos. In the La Villita outdoor amphitheatre photo you can see (at bottom-center) the "ghosts" of people who were in just one shot of the overlapped sections. The last I decided to leave uncropped - it always seemed to be missing some small detail no matter how it was cropped. The fish-eye distortion introduced by the stitching process also added the interesting illusion of a soft arch. I must have moved some distance between the two shots.

Two favorites from my collection. Both are from the Downtown Aquarium in Houston, Texas. The first because it was such a challenge! I have several photos of just the top or just the bottom of the gator because the water was in constant motion. The second I like simply because I love the big cats. It often pains me to see large predators in captivity (esp. when in nothing at all like a natural environment), but this one seemed quite at ease in the place.

Just one image today (actually several closeups stitched together with AutoStitch). These are from our garden.

Last winter I finally got a digital camera with optical zoom (Konica/Minolta DiMAGE A200). I really like this camera! What finally sold me on it was its very small size compared to the 8M-pixel cameras from Kodak and Panisonic that were also available at the time.

Sadly, Konica/Minolta has since withdrawn from the camera business, transfering related assets to Sony.

Munsinger-Clemens' Gardens (St. Cloud, Minnesota)

Beautiful place. If you enjoy gardens and are ever in the area you must be sure to stop and check them out.
